Keystone Festivals gives you the ultimate “Oktoberfest Survival Guide”
This is not your typical Oktoberfest!
Keystone’s Oktoberfest puts a mountain spin on this well-known event. Check out our Local’s Tips so you don’t miss a single unique experience at the festival on Saturday, September 1st.

Das Bier!
Das bier will be flowing in Keystone this Labor Day Weekend! We know there are a lot of Oktoberfest celebrations to choose from so that’s why Keystone Festivals likes to mix it up! The bar will be pouring a wide variety of beer styles by New Belgium Brewing from favorites like Citradelic IPA and 1554 to seasonal delights like Atomic Pumpkin and Tartastic Lemon Ginger Sour Ale. There will also be classics available like New Belgium Fat Tire and Coors Light for those guests that don’t like to stray from the staples. Whichever beer you choose, don’t forget to purchase your 2018 Keystone Oktoberfest stein to drink out of (it comes with 3 beers) for the full Rocky Mountain festival experience. Need more bier?

Local’s Tip: Start the Oktoberfest celebrations before the festival itself even starts with SummitCove’s annual Das Bier Burner 5k! It’s a fun and family friendly run around Keystone Resort that finishes off with a complimentary New Belgium beer and a brat from New Moon Café. If that doesn’t inspire you to cross the finish line then don’t forget that this 5k supports SOS Outreach.

Das Grub!
Have the complete Oktoberfest experience and pair your beer with some delicious food made by local vendors! Get your fix of German dishes like beer brats, apple strudel and schnitzel. Not quite your style? They’ll also be serving up tacos, pizza and cookies for those that like the more classic festival fare. For guests who are Keystone Oktoberfest veterans, pay attention to this
Local’s Tip. This year we’ll be selling Oktoberfest Food Tasting Tickets for $1 each that can be used to buy food at vendor tents. So make sure you pick some up at our light blue ticket tents throughout the event. After all, you can’t take that perfect Oktoberfest picture without a beer and a braut!

Das Entertainment!
Burn off your food and drink by dancing to some traditional Oktoberfest music! Start the day off with a performance from the Summit Concert Band. Then, Those Austrian Guys are back again and they always know how to liven things up and get the crowd on their feet. Want a way to participate in the festivities?

Local’s Tip: the Stein Hoisting Contest is taking place for the 2nd year and is the best way to test your beer-holding strength! Think you can hold a liter stein of beer the longest? Sign up at Day of Sales located in the Child Care Center in Silver Mill Courtyard on September 1st. Just want to spectate? Make sure you’re by the main stage at 5pm to see it all go down.

Das Kidzone!
Don’t leave the kids at home for this Bavarian celebration! Get them in the Oktoberfest spirit by visiting the Kidzone in Buffalo Courtyard. There will be free face painting and crafts available so the little festival-goers can be decked out for the event. Also check out the Keystone Kidtopia Playpark in Gondola Plaza which includes a bungee jump, rock climbing wall, and bounce house (prices vary).
Here’s a Local’s Tip for the kids who just can’t stop moving. Catch the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers at the main stage throughout the day. They’ve got the best polka moves and are known to encourage audience participation that is fun for the whole family!
So put on your dirndl and your lederhosen, maybe even buy a new outfit at the all-day River Run Merchant Tent Sale! We’ll provide the beer, food, entertainment and expert Local’s Tips so you’ve got everything you need for the 6th Annual Keystone Oktoberfest! Prost!
