Keystone Festival’s mountain guide to Bacon & Bourbon Weekend
Keystone Festivals are the perfect excuse to plan a long summer weekend in the mountains! Lucky for you, we’ve got four full days of fun planned around each summer festival.
If you’re heading up for Keystone Bacon & Bourbon Festival on June 27 & 28, make sure to round out your mountain weekend with our ultimate bacon weekend mountain guide!
1. Thursday: Hit the Keystone Bike Park & Summer Afternoon Club

Thursday: Hit the Keystone Bike Park & Summer Afternoon ClubDid you know the weekend starts on Thursday now? ;) The legendary Keystone Bike Park opens for the season on Thursday, June 25th, just two days before Bacon & Bourbon Festival! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced downhiller, the bike park has a trail for you. Keystone offers both season passes and single-day lift tickets for the summer bike haul so that you can pick the best option for your crew! Want an extra challenge? Bike up Jackstraw Road after the lifts have closed to kick your cardio into gear!
In addition to the Bike Park opening for the summer, June 25th is the first Summer Afternoon Club of the summer! A longstanding summer tradition at Keystone, Summer Afternoon Club features free gondola rides and live music at the summit of Dercum Mountain from 4pm-7pm.
Can’t make it to Summer Afternoon Club? Take part in the Festival & Fly deal instead! Guests who show a ticket wristband from Bacon & Bourbon Festival receive 50% off a scenic gondola ride, good only on the two days of the festival.
2. Friday: Keystone Concert Series & Dinner at Bighorn Bistro
2. Friday: Keystone Concert Series & Dinner at Bighorn BistroKeystone Concert series is back this summer with free live music in Keystone on Fridays! Kickoff your bacon weekend with Tiny Pockets playing in River Run Village from 4pm-6pm. Bring a chair or put on your dancing shoes, all ages are welcome!
After the free live music, take a bike ride or a stroll through the beautiful wetlands over to Lakeside Village. Make your way to Bighorn Bistro where you’ll find a relaxed dining setting offering gorgeous lake and mountain views. You’ll definitely want to try one (or two) all-day cocktails (we recommend the Bacon Bloody or Breck Old Fashion). Bighorn Bistro’s menu is an homage to the best of Colorado food with locally-sourced plates and small dishes for any size appetite. Make your reservations in advance to guarantee your table!
PLAYGROUND PRO TIP: There are lots of tasty restaurants in River Run Village too! On a Friday in the summer, it can be fun to get off the beaten path and check out Keystone joints outside of the village.
3. Saturday Morning: Splash into Lakeside Village
Keystone Festivals take place in River Run Village, but there’s more to explore along the base of Dercum Mountain! Follow the rec path west from River Run Village, or drive to Lakeside Village Parking. The Adventure Center is located right on the lake; you can’t miss it! Bring out the whole family and rent any combination of paddle boats and kayaks to explore the 5-acre lake full of rainbow trout. Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen!
4. Sunday Morning: Visit Summit House on Dercum Mountain
Visit Summit House, on top of Dercum Mountain, and grab brunch with views for miles! Outside, the little ones can mine for gemstones, try trampoline bungee jumping and more! For a challenge, take a hiking trail up the mountain. Or, for a more relaxed outing, bring the whole family for a scenic gondola ride.
